Clients fail to obtain IPv6 address from Delegated Prefix

M370 running v12.11.2

External interface

Trusted interface

Front Panel info

This config should allow clients to configure a IPv6 address via SLAAC but it's not working. No clients are getting an IPv6 address on the 2600:1700:47d1:163f::/64 network. A packet trace shows that Router Advertisement packets are being sent from the Firebox.

However I notice that there is no Prefix Information included. Should that be there in this case?

Here's a screenshot from an unrelated blog post showing a RA packet that includes prefix information.

If that should be in the RA packet sent from the Firebox, why would it be missing?

Comments

  • It turns out that if I hard code the prefix on the trusted interface, instead of using the eth0_prefix method, it works as expected.

The prefix information is now included in the RA packet and clients obtain an IPv6 address

    Is this a bug maybe?

    Hi @pacificadmin

I'd suggest opening a support case. We can gather additional data from your networkd logs.
