Speed Problem

Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a BOVPN between branches. I can install it without any problems, but the speed is extremely slow, even at the byte level. Even though the connection (tunnel) appears, I can't communicate. How can I resolve this? I'm using an M290, M390, and T45.

  • What speed are you seeing?

What are the up/down speeds of your ISP connections at each site?

What you you trying to access across the tunnels and how it it being accessed?
Note that accessing files across a BOVPN using Windows SMB will be slow.

What are you trying to send over the tunnel?
-The type of traffic that you're sending over the tunnel may impact the transfer speed. Some protocols like SMB and CIFS are known to only send pieces of traffic and will wait for an acknowledgment that it was received before sending more data.

What is the latency between your sites without the tunnel? If it is high, or traffic is being dropped, looking into that may help with your VPN.
