CVE-2023-36884 - does Panda help?

Hello!

We are using "Panda Adaptive Defense 360". I read about the security issue "CVE-2023-36884". So far, there is no patch from Microsoft, but Microsoft writes that their antivirus solution Defender helps here. Does Panda help us here in the same way as Defender (detection and defense)?

Quote from the article: Microsoft 365 Defender detects multiple stages of Storm-0978 activity. Customers who use Microsoft Defender for Office 365 are protected from attachments that attempt to exploit CVE-2023-36884. In addition, customers who use Microsoft 365 Apps (Versions 2302 and later) are protected from exploitation of the vulnerability via Office.

    Hello, @BerndW

If you set your Operation Mode for the Advanced protection Module to Lock, you are protected against any unknown execution or any known malware, no matter the source of its execution (local, network, ...)
Here is our Layer detection Model to show how our protection works:

    Hope this helps,

  • Hello David!

Thank you for your quick reply. Our service provider has already strongly recommended us to use the LOCK mode and we are already doing that. So no Defender necessary :) !

Yes, We do recommend to have the hardening mode for the first two weeks after installing, and then change to Lock.
So you are fully protected. No unwanted executions will be allowed on your devices.

    Have a nice day!

    David
