Whatsapp is temporary blocked

Hey everbody,

we have the problem that cell phones are temporarily unable to send Whatsapp messages via our Ubiquity access points. The problem persists for minutes. However, they can surf the Internet during this time. We have a Firebox M370 and UBIQUITI UniFi AC HDs. Does anyone know the problem? There are no abnormalities in the firewall.

Kindly,
Boris

    Hi @Roadmax
I would suggest starting by looking at the traffic monitor logs on your firewall for any Deny or ProxyDeny traffic related to whatsapp when the problem is occuring.

If there were no changes to the firewall before/after that outage, it's very likely not the firewall causing the problem. The issue you're describing simply sounds like a whatsapp outage in your area.

  • Hi James,

thanks for your answer. A similar problem occurs when the user switches from the LAN to the WLAN and wants to use MS Teams. It is hardly possible to make a video call, but it works in the LAN. So the problem is to be found elsewhere?

    Thanks!

  • As James suggests above, start by looking at Traffic Monitor for log entries from the IP addr of the device with issues.
