Link Monitor

Starting to use link monitor as a way to gauge the health of an ISP connection.
Would love to be able to configure 2 external Link monitors that both collect latency, loss, jitter data. 1 could go to 1.1.1.1 and 1 to 8.8.8.8 If both suddenly spike, then you could easily say it was the ISP, if only 1 spikes then it was a bad route outside before the last mile.

Since the WG is usually the closest thing to the edge, and the capability is now in place to do this with one link monitor, it would be good to develop this into a full-fledged network health tool.

    Hi @Bill_F

The general direction for the SD-WAN monitoring tools is that they are enough to perform the task needed by the firewall.

-For customers that want to send multiple link mentors out per address, you can do this, but only one will be used for SD-WAN metrics.

-If you'd like to monitor/log multiple external targets we'd suggest using software on a server somewhere on the network to accomplish this.

  • I would like the capability to add more than one link monitor per connection in for Cloud-Configured Fireboxes. This adds a redundant check in case one of the monitored hosts goes down, but the connection is still active and working.
