snmp interface bandwidth throughput
Hi,
I monitor the external interface bandwidth throughput with snmp. I noticed each time the traffic goes past 400-500Mbit/s, my snmp agent (zabbix) do not get reply packets (i guess) as the graph is missing data.
Original i was monitoring a M370 cluster and thought i might be a HW/cpu performance issue, but now this cluster is replaced by a FireboxV, and i see the exact same result with this firebox.
The box has allocated 2 x vCPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6234 CPU @ 3.30GHz and 4GB memory with a 10Gbit/s uplink. CPU usage is under 5% on each core.
Why do the firebox drops snmp packets when traffic reach the above interface speed?
Regards
Robert

Hi @rv@kaufmann.dk
That sounds like buggy behavior -- there could be any number of reasons causing this to happen.
I would suggest opening a support case so that we can get some more details from your firewall. If possible, if you can please also include info about your Zabbix server like version.
My best guess would be that the SNMP traffic is getting dropped as the interface starts to saturate, but I believe both of these firewalls should have enough CPU time that this shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks. I will do some tcpdump when i have some spare time to see, what the box do with the traffic.

can you please advise witch mibs are for monitoring bandwidth on the interface
@jpvl
I would suggest taking a look at the MIBs in the system statistics area here:
(Enterprise MIB File Details)
https://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/help-center/en-US/Content/en-US/Fireware/basicadmin/snmp_mibs_details_c.html
We also support these MIBs:
