M200 with high rpm fan and constant hdd activity

I went to the server room to check on something else, and I was greeted by a very loud fan noise. I traced it to the M200. Also in the server room is an M370. So I have another device to compare it to. Also, on the m200 the hdd activity light is lit constantly. I tried rebooting the M200. Still loud fan. Then I updated the the firmware and rebooted. Still the same issue. The room is cool. According to the dashboard there isn't a high cpu load. Any ideas?

    Hi @MeramecBrad

The M200/300 has a single fan and ramps it up based on temperature. Room temperature can be enough to ramp it up.

For earlier M200s there is a patch to lower the speed. See the KB here:

@James_Carson , I applied the patch mentioned in your article. I rebooted the system. I verified that the module was installed. The fan speed is still 17,763 rpm.

    Sys Temp1: [25 C]
    Sys Temp2: [23 C]
    Sys Fan: [17763 RPM]
    VCore: [1.022 V]
    1.35V: [1.348 V]

    Hi @MeramecBrad
It's probably due to the 25C sensor on the firewall -- That's enough to trigger the fan to spin up.

Max speed for the fan is ~25k RPM, so it's not running at full tilt. It's just trying to ensure the system stays cool.
