SIP-ALG Setting?

Hi,

Firewall: Firebox M270
XTM: 12.4.1.B595401

I am seeing the odd issue with our new VoIP/SIP solution in our office. I have been asked by the provider to make sure SIP-ALG is turned off on the firewall. Is there a setting for this anywhere for this? Or is it off by default unless a policy is setup?

Thanks.

  • SIP-ALG is a proxy policy type which can be added to a config, but is not in a config by default.

Like Bruce said, you'd need to make a SIP-ALG policy in order for it to be in use on a WatchGuard firewall.

SIP-ALG is usually used to re-write the headers in SIP registration traffic so that phones can work with NAT. Most modern SIP phones do this themselves.

If you don't see any proxy policies for SIP in your policy set, it's safe to reply to them that it's not enabled and let them move on to other troubleshooting.
