Firecluster and Managed Switches

I'm about to setup my first FireCluster and I would like to make sure that my thinking is correct. The docs say you need a switch for each interface that's in use, but I can't see a reason that I wouldn't be able to use my existing managed switch stack for this. Is it sufficient to create a VLAN for each interface type and just plug my Watchguard interfaces into corresponding ports for each respective VLAN?

Thanks!

  • Yes you will need a switch. You can certainly use an existing switch and use VLAN's. That's what I do and it works well (as long as you have enough open ports).
