looking to monitor login traffic and filter it

Can we easily block connection attempts from Russia or China if we discover those countries are problematic?
Can we filter IPs by geographic region so we can filter out our own range and local ISPs to see which ones are most likely to be verifiably malicious?

yes - using the Geolocation feature, which is included in the Basic Security Suite.

you can select all of the countries in a region using the Geolocation feature
