Will openjdk work since java is not free anymore?

edited January 2020 in TDR - AD Helper

Hi,

I was going to install the AD Helper and requires java 8. When I went to the java website it says there is a fee to use java now. Will openjdk work to be able to run AD -Helper?

If not are people paying the subscription fee to run this program?

Thanks

Beau

    Hi Beau,

Please review the Release Notes, "AD Helper requires Java 8 Update 162 or higher or OpenJDK8 with the Amazon Corretto pre-built package which is compatible with these operating systems ..... "

  • Hi,

I was able to install openjdk with amazon Correto and now it does not say that I need java installed. I can run java from the command line. When I run the installer two command prompt windows appear and disappear. The software does not seem to be installed properly. The service is not listed under services. When i run the helper program manually it says that the service needs to be configured.

I am not sure what is missing now.

    Hi Beau,

Please open a case with WatchGuard Support then and make note what package you have installed on the what OS.

Other question would be if the other Java product is still installed.

    Thanks
