M270 + fireware 12.12.1 + active subsciption

Want to trade up M270 > M290 before the M290 goes EOS

Until today I would call the reseller and get a trade-up sku for a newer firebox and live security subscription

Now they say the plan changed and trade up means selling me a new M290 and live security trade-up, and retire the M270

WGM290000 - Firebox M290 Appliance Only
WGM290003 - Trade Up to WatchGuard Basic Security Suite for Firebox M290 - 3-Year

Is that right?

I loaded the M270 config in policy manager and went to " setup > system > - M270" and changed the "firebox model" to M290

A popup asks if I'm sure I want to change from 8 to 16 interfaces for the M290

Huh? I thought both appliances have 8 nics

Ony thing I can do is select yes. No acts like cancel

Is that a problem?

    I would believe your reseller. WG changes their upgrade programs periodically.

    The upgrade chart on on page 2 shows the upgrade for a M270 is to a T185, M295 or M395.

    The Details shows: Trade an earlier-generation WatchGuard appliance and move up to a new WatchGuard solution at up to 5% off the
    standard purchase price.

    How to Purchase a WatchGuard Trade Up Product

    If you have an eligible product you would like to trade, simply purchase the unique Trade Up SKU corresponding to that
    product. Trade Up SKUs are available through any authorized WatchGuard reseller. The discount of up to 5% is built into
    the price, so you see the savings instantly.

    The M290 has a slot where you can install an additional interface module - thus potentially 16 interfaces.

    I think you're right about about the nic warning, unless somebody posts they had a problem

    "pm > setup > network > configuration > interfaces" shows 8 nics as expected

    The trade up documentation is a little confusing

    The elegibility chart I think you looked at doesnt even show an M290, but the reseller site does with the same blurb about trading in the old appliance that I'm used to seeing

    I'll check about that with WG customer service
