Minimum Version Req to upgrade to 12.11.6?

Is there a minimum version required to upgrade to Fireware 12.11.6? I could not find any req's listed in release notes.

For 12.11.7 (the now current release), the first page of the HTML release notes at https://www.watchguard.com/support/release-notes/fireware/12/en-US/EN_ReleaseNotes_Fireware_12_11_7/index.html mentions the following (edited for clarity):

    Supported Devices
    Firebox NV5, T20, T25, T40, T45, T80, T85, M270, M290, M370, M390, M470, M570, M590, M670, M690, M4600, M4800, M5600, M5800
    FireboxV, Firebox Cloud, WatchGuard AP

(the WatchGuard AP reference would be for those still supported for management by the Firebox, being the AP125, AP225W, AP325, AP327X, AP420)

One difference between 12.11.6 and 12.11.7 is the T55 and T70 are no longer listed, given these reached end of support between the two releases (ie. 12.11.6 is the last release to support those two appliances).

As for a minimum version to upgrade to 12.11.6, unless you're coming from a fairly old release (think 12.3.x era), one can generally upgrade straight to 12.11.x although if you're coming from a version before 12.7.2U2 it would be worth running the check for Cyclops Blink before doing the upgrade just in case.

Sorry I am new to Watchguards. I have a firewall loaded with version 12.3.1. I ran the Cyclops Blink and it did not find anything. Should I upgrade to version 12.7 before upgrading to 12.11.6? The model is M4600.

v12.11.7 is the latest version for a M4600.

The v12.11.7 Release Notes do not indicate an issue upgrading from your current version when upgrading using WSM Policy Manager.

If upgrading using the Web UI, there is this from the Release Notes:
If your Firebox runs Fireware v11.9.x or lower, follow the steps in this knowledge base article.

Upgrade Fireware OS from Web UI (Fireware v11.9.x or lower)
    https://techsearch.watchguard.com/KB/WGKnowledgeBase?lang=en_US&SFDCID=kA10H000000bp9ySAA&type=Article

Do note that you do need a current support contract on your firewall to do software upgrades.

  • Thanks for the info. I just upgraded my M4600 from 12.3 to 12.11 and all is good.
