Mixed licencing within WatchGuard Cloud

Currently different licencing types per tenant are not supported within WGC, for example.

  • Service Provider with existing Term EPDR to a subscriber who wants to deploy a subscription EDPR license to the same tenant cannot do so as one licence type will displace the other.
  • Service Provider with existing Term EPDR to a subscriber can not deploy MDR subscription license to the same tenant.

Other examples (Albeit slightly different as these are product type, not licence type)

  • EDR Core & EPDR etc can’t mix per tenant
  • MFA and TIS can’t mix per tenant.

Am principally interested in the licencing type of Term v Subscription as opposed to product type as it’s becoming a frequent problem for customers interested in moving to a subscription model. Those customers can’t afford to discard the cost of existing Term licences that often have months/years remaining to migrate to a subscription model, and yet are very keen to engage with the subscription model as they can spread costs.

I have been verbally told WG sales engineers a development request upon this known issue exists, but I possess no number to track it. Is anyone aware of this problem? Does anyone have any ID/Number/ETA on the intended fix/development of the problem?

I appreciate this can be worked around by creating a separate duplicate tenant for the end customer, one for Term, one for sub, or one for EPDR and one for EDR core etc but this is messy and breaks up the single pain of glass and telemetry correlation for XDR etc so I want to avoid it.

    Hi @Devlin_R

I some digging, and I believe the overarching project they're referring to is WCD-13571. (This is an a request that is just full of smaller requests, and can't be followed directly.)

I'd suggest asking the sales engineers in question what specific request they are referencing to confirm that WCD-13571 is the one they had in mind.
