Does the e-mail server require a different port than standard TCP port 25?
For example, Gmail requires SSL/TLS - TCP port 465.
Gmail also requires an user name & password.

In the dimension server if you go to Settings (gear icon) -> System Settings, and choose the email tab you can see the email logs. This will include messages you're getting back from the email server you're trying to send to.

Dimension doesn't need to have a public IP addr.

For gmail I have had to create a policy for the traffic to go out from - printers, ATAs, Barracuda and yes...Dimension. The port is 587 not 465
