SSLVPN extremely slow

On my 100 x 10 cable connection, if I do a speed test without the SSLVPN, I get about 118Mbps down and 11Mbps up. If I connect to the SSLVPN, it drops to 18Mbps down and 11Mbs up. I cannot figure out why the speed drops so much.

Is anyone else having problems with huge SSLVPN speed drops? I am using SHA-256 and AES 256-bit encryption. My T35 is running 12.5.1 U1 firmware.

  • Try using UDP port instead of TCP, using for ex. UDP 1194 can speed up things a bit.

  • My tests for upload/download speeds - from an internal wireless client to my XTM35
    no VPN 115 12
    SSL TCP 11 10
    SSL UDP 17 11
    Shrew 90 11

The NXP1024 CPU chip has support for encryption, which may explain the Shrew value. Perhaps SSLVPN does not use the onboard encryption capabilities.
