Firebox T20 Firmware Upgrade: "You need a LiveSecurity key to upgrade your Firebox"
Hi,
today my fiber channel provider informed me, that they had identified my firewall as a Watchguard Firebox with a OS that is known to have a critical weakness. I was asked to update my Firebox to OS version 12.11.6 or above.
I tried that and got the error messag "You need a LiveSecurity key to upgrade your Firebox".
So do I really have to buy a subscription for >300 € for each of my two T20's to get that Firmware update?

Hi @PhysioKutscher
We do require an active subscription to receive software updates for your firewalls. We offer several options to fit our customers' needs. All of our support options include advanced replacement of failed firewalls and include software updates.
Standard Support - Basic firewall functions and software updates.
Basic Security Suite - Includes gateway antivirus and IPS, along with some other features.
Total Security Suits - Includes most services.
You can see a comparison here:
https://www.watchguard.com/wgrd-products/security-services
If you just want to upgrade software and receive support, I would suggest the standard support option.
If you're looking for standard support, the easiest way to find it is via the part number for your T20s:
WGT20203 - 3 year
WGT20201 - 1 year
Note that if your device(s) are expired, your subscription may be backdated up to 6 months.
Thank you for that information! I could get the WGT20201 for 107 €. That sounds much more adequate.
