Best Way to Prepare for WatchGuard Firebox Certification? Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently preparing for the WatchGuard Firebox certification and wanted to ask for some advice from those who have already passed.

What study resources did you find most helpful? Did you focus more on hands-on practice with Firebox configuration, policies, VPN setup, and certificates, or mostly on theory?

I’ve been practicing labs and reviewing different study materials. I also checked some practice questions from Passexam4sure to test my understanding and identify weak areas.

Any tips on important topics, common mistakes, or exam pattern insights would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance 🙂

  • Hi @Adam754

Everything covered in the certification exams is available in the associated study guides and videos in the WatchGuard Learning Center.

  • From what I've seen so far, hands-on practice makes a big difference for the Firebox exam. I'm also on the same preparation path. Policies, NAT rules, VPN (particularly branch office and mobile VPN), and certificate setup typically come up more frequently in lab work than in pure theory. For concepts like traffic flow and security services, theory is still important, but once you configure and troubleshoot in a lab, it really makes sense. When it came to issues with VPN routing and firewall rules order, breaking and fixing configurations rather than just following guides step by step was one thing that helped me avoid mistakes. Also, don't forget about monitoring and logging because many questions test your ability to interpret logs indirectly. Along with your current practice materials, you might also want to cross-check structured prep resources like CertifyCerts to quickly identify weak areas and align your study with exam-style patterns.
