FW - Limit bandwidth according to hours
Hi
I have a rule used to replicate our backup to a distant datacenter.
Is there a way to setup the rule to limite bandwidth usage during workday, and no limite during night for example ?
Is there a way to di the sime using sd-wan ?
we have a low fiber connection, and a xDSl backup.
maybe tell during the day to use xdsl, and at night use fiber
But this point is optionnal, primary need is bandwidth limitation during workhours.
I can only find a way to provide/limite badnwidhth permanently.
Thanks

You can set up a Schedule on a policy.
So you could have 2 policies for this traffic - 1 for work hours with a Traffic Management bandwidth restriction and 1 for off hours without Traffic Management applied.
Note that if there is an ongoing session when the schedule changes, the new policy won't apply to that traffic.

For WSM Policy Manager, see the Schedule section on the policy Advanced tab
That's the point, rule have to be applied event if a session is running tu reduce/increase bandwidth.
This is for backup replications, that takes very long time due to our very limited fiber bandwidth, so i need bandwith limitation to be dynamic for running sessions/transfers
Hi @Chico008
A pair of policies, with the policies on timers, would be able to throttle whatever specific traffic you can filter by a policy (source, destination, port)
As Bruce mentioned, the firewall's policy set is checked when the connection starts. If this is a long-running connection, you'll need to find a way to break/restart the connection so the new policy can be applied to that traffic.
I'm not sure how long your database keeps connections open while doing this, so I suggest trying a rule and seeing if the connection breaks and re-establishes itself.

Thanks, i'll see what i can do, but i'm afraid if i close the backup connection, it will just failed
What is your fiber speed?
How long does a replication normally take?
How much data is being replicated?
Can the replication process be made into multiple steps instead of just one step?
