MS Office Updates Ignoring Traffic managment and SD-WAN

First off I can't see how this is possible, but its happening and I am tearing my hair out trying to resolve!

So I have a couple of simple policies

HTTP-Proxy and HTTPS-proxy. Both are set to route traffic down a particular external interface using SD-WAN. If I check the IP in the browser from somewhere like google, it shows the correct external IP. If I perform a speedtest, it shows the PC is limited to 60Mbps has per my traffic management (per IP).

But then If I launch MS Office Update, I see that the bandwidth shoots to 100% of the External interface. If I look at Fireware>Policy it shows the HTTP-Proxy (the one this is traffic managed both forward and reverse) is using 1200Mbps and it lists what ever IP is currently performaing a MS update.

So it seems that somehow MS Updates are excluding on the HTTP-Proxy from being traffic managed, or the fireware is actually showing incorrect info, and the actual MS Update traffic isn't being downloaded using the proxy policy ?

    Hi @Jez

I'd suggest opening a support case so that our team can take a look at your traffic management actions. You can do that via the support center button at the top right of this page.

  • Whilst I don't have the problem, I would be interested to know what the underlying issue was if you get chance to post it.
