Loosing connection to LAN while VPN to parent company

I have a couple of users that VPN to our parent company so they can access their network. But, when they do, they loose connection to here so they loose file share etc.
When I do a ipconfig, I can see the VPN LAN and LAN here, but I can't ping anything locally. Any idea why? Does it have something to do with split tunneling?

    Yes- you need to use split tunneling to access both local and remote at the same time

    Thanks, so I guess my question is do I do split tunneling on the VPN ethernet or Local ethernet?

    Never mind, I guess on the VPN side since I can do that only on the VPN adapter.

    It is usually client VPN setting
