FireboxV - kernel panik on hosted vserver

Hello,
what i found out so far.

  • FireboxV hard disk is IDE type when installed with OVF
  • when i upload the .vmdk to my vServer provider the vServer is mouting the vmdk as LSI SAS SCSI disk.
  • when i test on my local ESXi , to use LSI SAS instead of IDE for the vmdk, i get same following error.

kernel panic not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
CPU: 0 PID: 1 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 3.12.19-rt30 #1

is it possible to get the image working on LSI SAS SCSI ?

    Hi @Norman
FireboxV supports both IDE and scsi drive types -- so this should most likely be OK.

I'd suggest opening a case with technical support (user the support center link on the top right of this page.) This will allow them to get a bit more in-depth with your issue.

    Thank you,

    Hi James,
i did some testing today , i was not able to get any config running with scsi on hyper-v 2012R2.
on esxi , i did test also with converting vmdk and editing disk to scsi
    ddb.adapterType = "IDE" to ddb.adapterType = "lsilogic" and remount

    always same kernel panic

this is the answer from tech support:

Regarding your issue actually we don't support FireboxV or XTMv with SCSI disk controllers.

That's why you are getting those panic logs in the image you attached.

We have already a request for feature enhancement opened, to support this:
